Leave of Absence
The College recognizes that there are times when issues arise and prevent a student from functioning at their best. In such instances, students are encouraged to prioritize their wellbeing and pause their education. Making the decision to take a leave of absence can be complex and the College wants you to feel like you have the information and support as you make this decision. There are two types of leaves, a general leave and a medical leave. A medical leave of absence (MLOA) is defined as a voluntary and temporary interruption of one's studies based on a documented physical or mental health problems.
Students may take leaves of absence from their studies for up to two semesters and retain the right to enroll at the College at the end of the leaves without applying for readmission. Students are eligible to take leaves of absence from the College if they have grade point averages of at least 2.0 and if they have no outstanding obligations to the College.

Students have 30 days from the notification of an approved regular leave to request the leave be changed to a medical leave. Required documentation must be submitted at the time of the request and it will be reviewed to see if it meets medical leave approval.

If GPA is below the requirements of a general leave of absence or the withdrawal deadline has passed, a medical leave of absence is still an option as long as there is a current documented physical or mental health condition. Students who are not eligible for a regular leave and want to request a medical leave during a semester have 2 weeks to submit the required documentation, after the initial communication.
