NOTE: WGST 320 Gender & Sexualities is not being offered this semester. Students who need this course for GSWS programs may substitute WGST 205 Art & Politics of Drag, WGST 203 Queer Art, WGST 388 Black Masculinities, WGST 205 Queering Family (offered fall 2025) or other courses with significant sexuality content with the approval of the GSWS coordinator.

NOTE:

• Note that many courses on the list have prerequisites. If you do not meet the prerequisite, you might contact the instructor and inquire about whether you could take the course for WGST purposes without having the prereq. Though note that the answer may be “no”.
• Also, in some cases the above courses devote only a portion (usually about 30% or more) of the course material to gender and/or sexuality specifically, but many allow students to make choices about the focus of one or more assignments. If you are using a course in another program or department for WGST credit and the course has only partial focus on women, gender, and/or sexuality, then you should opt to focus a major assignment on one or those topics when possible.

NOTE: WGST 320 is the foundational course for the Queer/Sexuality minor. We are unable to offer this course in 2025-26; however, the following courses are permissible substitutions: WGST 205, WGST 203 Queer Art, WGST 388 Black Masculinities, SOCL 225 Soc of Gender & Sexuality, or SOCL 281 Soc of Sexual Health (others may also be approved by the coordinator upon request).
