Griffin Lyons

Griffin

Griffin (she/her) is a senior English Literature and Sociology double major with a minor in the Edgar Fellows program. She is a part of the Creative Writing Club and enjoys volunteering within the campus community. Griffin believes that writing should be both educational and enjoyable, and she loves helping students express themselves through their writing. She spends most of her free time with her many cats while listening to music.

 

Nina Avallone-Serra

Nina (she/her) is a senior Comparative Literature and French double major from Albany, NY. In addition to her position as a consultant at the Writing Center, she currently serves as copy editor for The Lamron, production assistant for the student-run literary journal Gandy Dancer, and secretary for French club. She is also a member of both the national English honors society, Sigma Tau Delta, as well as the national French honors society, Pi Delta Phi. Well-acquainted with the stresses (and joys!) of the writing and revision process, Nina loves working through every step of the process with thoughtful and engaged conversation. She is available for assistance with work in both English and French.

Nate D'Amato

Nate (he/him) is a senior English major with a Creative Writing concentration with minors in Film Studies and Sustainability Studies. He is the Editor-in-Chief of The Lamron, and a TA for Foundations of Creative Writing! He knows how daunting the writing process can be, and he is here to help guide you and levy—some of—the stress a new project brings through some tips that aided him. When not writing, Nate can be found watching a movie, playing with his cats, drawing, or raiding the nearest bookstore! 

Giulyana Gamero

Giulyana (she/her) is a junior Communication major from Rockford, Illinois. She directs Sunflower Story Hour, an episodic audio drama, on 89.3 WGSU and enjoys the views walking around campus. Having been a Youth Poet Laureate for her hometown, Giulyana loves sharing her passion for writing with others, even those who may not be as excited about writing! She wholeheartedly believes anyone can improve their writing with an open mind. When she is not crafting a poem or developing a new story, Giulyana loves creating visual art, playing music, and playing her fair share of video games.

Ryan Eck

Ryan Eck (he/him) is a fourth-year English major concentrated in Creative Writing, a Spanish minor, and a member of the Edgar Fellows program. Ryan is all too familiar with academic writing, including how tiresome it can be, but also how rewarding it can be. Ryan eagerly hopes to give a friendly, supportive hand towards uplifting students as confident writers. He is available to consult on both English-language and Spanish-language papers. Ryan also loves video games, graphic novels, and anime, being the treasurer of ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú Esports and overseeing the anime scene at ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú Area Gaming Group (GAGG). He also has a cat named Winston, who is a professional businessman.

Tahera Stevens

Tahera is a senior Neuroscience major with a minor in English Literature. She believes an important part of writing is learning to enjoy the process of doing it. As a tutor, she looks forward to helping students feel welcomed in exploring their unique writing styles and developing a method that speaks to their skills. In her free time, she loves putting together building sets and various puzzles. Her current projects involve completing a double sided puzzle and a wooden cello.

Kira Magnus

Kira uses they/them pronouns and is a senior English Adolescence Education major. They are a member of the English Honors Society, Sigma Tau Delta, on campus. Kira was initially raised in Owego NY, but later moved to Ithaca NY, and has lived there for the majority of their life. In their free time, they can be found reading, making art, cooking, and playing guitar. Kira is deeply interested in alternative education, and hopes to find ways for all types of learners and writers to enjoy and meet their goals in writing.

Chloe Girling

Chloe (she/her) is a senior with a major in Biology and a minor in Sociomedical Science. She recently transferred to ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú and is excited to get involved in the WC. Chloe loves the collaborative process of writing. She enjoys working with clients in a way that suits their unique writing style and accentuates their personal voice. Chloe is a part of the Rock Climbing Club at ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú, and she can often be found at Sunrise Bouldering, or at a local music festival.

Sophia Bahm

Sophia (she/her) is a junior Biochemistry major with a focus in pre-medical studies. She is the Writing Fellow for WRTG 105: The Witch, the Communications & Group Management Leader for ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú’s biology mentoring program, Biome, an EMT trainee at ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú Fire Department, and a member of the campus’ pre-professional medical fraternity, Phi Delta Epsilon. She personally loves the creativity and innovation writing offers in such an empirical major. When she isn’t writing, Sophia can be found in her research laboratory or reading a book at her leisure.

Chloe Dion

Chloe (she/her/hers) is a junior Early Childhood Education student with a concentration in English. At a very young age, she found a love for reading and writing, and now wants to spend her life sharing that interest with fellow learners. Chloe appreciates when the practice of writing can happen in a group or with a partner so our ideas can change or deepen our thinking together. Chloe is also a member of volunteer club, RLK, and works as a pk3 TA in a nearby town.

Samantha Lopez

Sam (she/her) is a junior majoring in English Literature with a minor in Linguistics. She is a member of the Edgar Fellows Honors Program and the International English Honor Society, Sigma Tau Delta. On campus, Sam serves as a small group leader for ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú's chapter of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. She loves to go for runs (or walks) around the village and can be found at the library during her free time. As a writing consultant, she hopes students will enjoy the writing process and be encouraged to write with confidence and intention. 

Kate Schweitzer

Kate (she/her) is a senior English Literature major with a minor in Art History. She is the president of ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú’s chapter of the International English Honor Society, Sigma Tau Delta, as well as an active member of the Undergraduate Alumni Association, which strives to continue the unique traditions of ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú students. Outside of academics, she enjoys baking sweet treats, hiking through breathtaking scenery, and listening to live music. Kate likes writing research papers that connect the worlds of art and literature, and views her writing method as an extended process, often taking multiple breaks throughout her writing periods, because stepping away always helps push forward new ideas. As a consultant, Kate strives to listen intently and provide the best possible advice to help build her peers’ confidence in their own unique method of writing.
